Voice to note

Tap the mic, talk, and mashnote turns your words into a note — with a live transcript as you speak.

How it works

Section titled “How it works”
  1. Tap the mic button (in the quick actions or note list).
  2. Allow microphone access.
  3. Speak — you’ll see the transcript appear live.
  4. Stop, and mashnote creates a new note (title from the first line, body from the transcript).

Private by design

Transcription runs on your device using native speech-to-text (Apple Speech on iOS, the Web Speech API on the web). No audio is uploaded, and nothing is sent to a cloud transcription service.

Where it works

  • iOS — Apple SFSpeechRecognizer.
  • Web — the Web Speech API.
  • Desktop — native macOS speech (rolling out).
