Notes, notebooks & tags
mashnote uses the classic early-Evernote triad for organising. It’s deliberately simple: no blocks, no databases, no multi-column canvases — just the three things that do 95% of the work.
A note is a single rich-text document: a title plus a flowing body. It can contain headings, lists, checklists, images, file attachments, code and quotes. See Editor overview.
Notebooks
Section titled “Notebooks”A notebook groups related notes — “Work”, “Travel”, “Recipes”. Notebooks can be nested into sub-notebooks. See Notebooks.
A tag is a lightweight, cross-cutting label — #ideas, #meetings, #read-later. Unlike a notebook, a note can carry many tags, so the same note can appear under several angles. Tags can be colour-coded. See Tags.
The Inbox
Section titled “The Inbox”The Inbox is a special, always-present section for notes that aren’t yet filed into a notebook. It’s the default landing spot for new captures and shared notes. See The Inbox.
The three-pane layout
Section titled “The three-pane layout”The editor is a three-pane window: a left rail (All Notes, Favorites, Notebooks, Tags), a note list in the middle, and the editor on the right. The note is always the hero — chrome appears only when you need it. See Editor overview.
